Leinster LGFA Convention 2023
The 2023 Leinster LGFA Convention took place in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise on Sunday afternoon. In what was a positive meeting, Leinster LGFA President, Trina Murray, congratulated and thanked the players, volunteers, officers, officials and all those involved in the LGFA last year. It was yet another successful year for Leinster LGFA with registrations increasing to a reported total of 69,770. To put this number in context, this figure has increased 253% in total from registrations back in 2014 which numbered 27,600. It was also noted that gate receipts have increased exponentially. Joe Fox, Leinster Treasurer, believed the increase in gate receipts may be closely linked to Leinster LGFA’s decision to stream a number of their games and concluded it was money very well spent.
The highlight of the calendar year was most certainly a memorable day in Croke Park when the TG4 Leinster LGFA Senior Final between the eventual Leinster champions Dublin and Meath was played before the Leinster GAA Final, an historic first for the province.
Leinster LGFA congratulate all those who won national and provincial titles in 2022, in particular Meath, our TG4 All Ireland Senior Champions and Laois our TG4 All Ireland Intermediate Champions. Congratulations to Meath, Lidl Division One Champions and Offaly, Lidl, Lidl Division Four Champions and to Longford Slashers, currentaccount.ie All Ireland Intermediate Club Champions.
After the submission of reports, Trina thanked the Officers for the time and effort to compile the reports and the meeting proceeded with the Election of Officers.

We thank Linda Kenny, Leinster Camogie President, for attending our Convention. It represents the excellent relationship we share with Leinster Camogie as we continue to work together to allow players wishing to play both sports the opportunity to do so.
We thank Leinster GAA President Pat Teehan for his support throughout his term of office and we wish Wexford’s Derek Kent all the very best as Pat’s successor. We look forward to working with Leinster GAA into 2023 with integration building momentum.
Condolences and tributes were paid to Leinster LGFA members who had passed on in 2022, notably Kathleen Mullins, John Bermingham and Pat Moore. We extend our deepest sympathies to all who have been bereaved in the last year.
Trina Murray also paid tribute to Finbarr O’Driscoll who has stepped aside owing to family commitments. Finbarr has been involved in all aspects of Leinster LGFA and he will leave big boots to fill. We thank him for the countless of work he has done for the Association.
In their reports, Leinster Executive Officers thanked our Leinster LGFA staff which has now increased to four members. This surely indicates the huge growth of the game and we are so very fortunate to have Margaret Brennan, Emily Jacob Harris, Clodagh Flanagan and Deirdre Corroon working on various aspects of Leinster LGFA’s activities.
We look forward to another busy season and hope to keep you updated as much as possible on our activities! You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
We wish all our members a every success this year. Here’s to a wonderful 2023!
