TEAM NEWS - Club Championship Programmes 27/28 Nov
November 26, 2021
After a stunning weekend of Leinster Club championship competition, the heat is turned up this weekend with the Senior Club Championship entering semi-final stages and Junior and Intermediate at quarter finals.
It will be a busy weekend for all in Tinahely as their Junior team will take on Laois champions Ballyfin on Saturday before their Senior team host Meath champions Dunboyne on Sunday. After their preliminary round win against Cappagh, Kilanerin will host Kilkenny champions Muckalee in the Junior quarter final. On Sunday, Meath face Dublin once more when Skryne host St Jude’s.
Intermediate quarter finalists will see Wexford’s senior champions Shelmalier enter the provincial fray when they take on three time Louth County champions Geraldines. Having won their championship last weekend, The Downs play host to preliminary round winners Bray Emmets. After their narrow victory in Paddy O’Brien Park last Saturday, Navan O’Mahonys will travel to Longford to take on Senior champions Longford Slashers for a place in the final four. In the final quarter final, St Sylvester’s will hit the road this weekend as they travel to Ballyroan to take on the hosts.
On Sunday, attention turns to the Senior Championship and two key semi-finals to decide the 2021 Senior Club Championship final pairing.
In Bray Emmets, reigning champions Foxrock Cabinteely will host Offaly champions, Tullamore. After their slender two point win against Eadestown last weekend, Foxrock Cabinteely will be hoping home advantage is just that as they take on Offaly champions, Tullamore. This is Tullamore’s first venture at this level and there is no doubt they will relish the underdogs tag.
Meanwhile, in Tinahely, the home side will take on Dunboyne in what is sure to be a fiery encounter. Both sides had relatively comfortable wins against quarter final opposition. Tinahely were impressive winners against Laois’ St Conleths, while Dunboyne overcame a defiant Milltown side. Tinahely and Dunboyne last met in the Leinster Intermediate Championship and it took free kicks to separate the sides – Dunboyne winning out before going on to be crowned Intermediate champions. This time round, neither side will want to leave it so late for a winner. This game promises to be a fiery encounter.
Leinster LGFA are delighted to confirm that both Senior semi-final fixtures will be streamed live on their Facebook page (link here) on Sunday afternoon, with throw in at both venues set for 13:30. Jerome Quinn will report live from Tinahely while Dominic Leech is on commentary duty with Ntrai in Bray Emmets GAA.
