Leinster LGFA Set for 2019 Interprovincial Tournament
Leinster Manager Kevin Doogue has named a 30 strong squad ahead of Saturday’s Interprovincial competition in Kinnegad. The side will be captained by three time All Ireland winner Lauren Magee and there are representatives from nine Leinster counties taking part. 2019 All Star goalkeeper Monica McGuirk is joined by Royal teammates Vikki Wall, Kelsey Nesbitt, Aoibhín Cleary, Fiona O’Neill and Meath Captain Máire O’Shaughnessy.
Leinster Intermediate Champions Wexford have five on the Leinster panel with Maria Byrne, Clara Donnelly, Sarah Harding Kenny, Kellie Kearney and Leinster Senior Club Championship winner Aisling Murphy all included. Westmeath also have five on the panel with Tyrellspass duo Johanna Maher and Nicole Feery joined by county teammates Rachel Dillon, Maud Ann Foley and Lucy McCartan.
Fresh from Leinster Club Championships, Wicklow’s Jackie Kinch, Laura Hogan and Lorna Fusciardi will all don provincial colours this Saturday. Laois will be well represented with Clodagh Dunne, Laura Nerney and club mates Erone Fitzpatrick and Anna Healy included in the squad. Kildare’s Nessa Dooley and Trina Duggan are also included after a sterling season for both players with club and county. Longford enjoyed an excellent season reaching the Leinster Intermediate semi-final – Michelle Farrell and Aishling Greene have been included in Kevin Doogue’s side. All Ireland Junior Champions Louth will be well represented with Niamh Rice and Lauren Boyle included in the match day thirty.
After securing the Shield in last year’s competition, the team is eager to go a step further this season and challenge for the Cup! The very best of luck to the Management team; Kevin Doogue, Dominic Leech, Martin Kelly, Trina Murray, Mark Murnaghan, Paul Garrigan and physio Leah Mullins. Updates on their progress will be on all Leinster LGFA platforms!
