Teams Set for Leinster LGFA U15 Development Day
September 06, 2019
THE 2019 Leinster LGFA Under 15 Development Day will take place Saturday 7 September in Carlow. 12 teams from Kilkenny, Laois, Louth and Meath will be represented.
The LGFA Development Programme aims to provide opportunities for Counties to work with and develop a wide range of players, improving and as such the format of the Leinster U15 Development Day has been adapted to ensure maximum participation and opportunity for all players involved.
How have we done this?
- Counties are encouraged to enter multiple teams of even ability. All players who have attended a minimum of 60% of training sessions should be invited to particpate.
- Panels of 20 maximum wherever possible to ensure meaningful game opportunity for all players travelling.
- All players must play minimum 15mins per game & 2 full games.
- Working with coaches to create an environment whereby players are taking responsibility for their decision making and learning from the experience such as allowing players the opportunity to take half time team talk and encouraging silent sidelines to give players autonomy over decision making and work as a team.
- Scores will not be recorded to allow coaches and players the opportunities to play in an unpressurised environment whereby mistakes can be made as valuable learning opportunities and all players can be afforded the opportunity to participate in order to develop.
- Frees and sideline balls will be taken by the nearest player.
We would like to extend a very special welcome to all teams on the day, and thanks to our volunteers, referees and coordinators, as well as host clubs Carlow Town Hurling Club and O'Hanrahans GAA who will be working hard to ensure that the event runs smoothly.
We also look forward to seeing many of these players in action with their respective Clubs and County teams over the coming years.
