Leinster Gaelic4Mothers&Others take Centre Stage
July 24, 2019
Following the success of the first Leinster G4MO Blitz of 2019 held last month at St Peregrines GAA, a further 34 teams from across Leinster descended on Navan O'Mahonys GAA, Co. Meath on Saturday 20 July for a truly epic day of football bringing the total number of teams participating in this years Leinster Blitzes to a record 54.
Teams from 9 Leinster Counties arrived with their gazebos, picnics and Hawaiian accessories ready for a full day of football. For St Maurs of Dublin it even meant incorporating a hen do - and we wish the happy hen all the best for the wedding!
Throughout the day, football was played in the best of spirits as players laughed, joked, danced and played their way through 4 games of football.
We would like to thank all of the players, mentors and supporters that took part on the day. Thank you to the referees and volunteers who allowed the day to run so smoothly and a special thank you to Navan O'Mahony's and club co-ordinator Eunice Murtagh for being such wonderful hosts.
We now look forward to the national blitz on Saturday 5 October. The blitz is extremely popular and sells out very quickly, so any teams who haven’t already should register soon at the LGFA website before the closing date 30 August. Each year the LGFA also offer the fantastic opportunity for G4MO teams to play at half time of the TG4 All-Ireland Finals on 15th September in Croke Park, and teams wishing to enter can find out more here.
Congratulations again to all teams taking part in this years blitzes, the challenge really is on to go bigger and better again in 2020!
